A report from Canaccord Genuity concludes that the Apple iPhone 4S was the top-selling phone on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint in November. Raise your hand if you’re surprised. No hands? I thought so. Yes, the iPhone is topping carriers’ sales charts once again.
“IPhone 4S sales strength continues as distribution increases – Our November checks indicated iPhone sales remained strong in the US, particularly at AT&T and Sprint. Further, our checks indicated strong global share gains,” Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity writes. “With the iPhone 4S launching in new markets including China, Brazil, and Russia during December, we anticipate strong December quarter iPhone sales and have increased our estimate from 29.0 to 30.5M units.”
Apple’s iPhone 4, announced and released in June 2010, still managed to come in third place on AT&T and Sprint in November. The Samsung Galaxy S II claimed that second place spot. Verizon had a slightly different lineup with the Motorola Droid RAZR in second and the HTC Rezound in third. Both of these phones are $300 with a two-year contract, so that definitely comes as a bit of a surprise.
Over at T-Mobile, the only major U.S. carrier without Apple’s blessing at this point, the Samsung Galaxy S II top its charts. The HTC Amaze and HTC Radar 4G were next on the list.
While Apple and Samsung are bringing in a seemingly unlimited flow of cash, Walkey reports that HTC and RIM’s BlackBerry suffered in the hardware department during November, but the latter might change sooner than expected.
