You know how they say – better late than never. That seems to be exactly what LG is thinking when it finally decided to release a Gingerbread update for its Optimus Black smartphone. Not sure why it took them so long, but the good thing is that the new Android version is now available to download. Actually, we’re hearing only users in Europe and India can grab Android 2.3.4, while the rest of the world will have to wait for few more days/weeks (we’re not sure).
According to LG’s change log, the new software version brings many improvements, including:
- Power management enhancements
- Improved UI
- One-touch word selection and copy/paste
- Better Download management
- Support for new media formats like AAC, AVC, MPEG 4 and H.263
- New shortcuts, widgets and icons
- Better email syncing
- More precise camera auto-focus and camera geo-tagging
- Active app management, app groups, updated calendar options
- Pre-loaded Google+ app
In addition, it’s safe to bet there are some other under the hood improvements that make for an even better experience.
As for the Ice Cream Sandwich update, LG promised to release it in the third quarter of this year.
