Not sure how we missed this cause it’s pretty interesting. Nevertheless we’re going with this news even though it’s not as hot as it used to be 10 days ago…

Imagine a high-end smartphone with a dual-core processor, huge touchscreen, LTE data and a ton of built-in storage. SpareOne phone is a complete opposite – it’s a super-basic feature phone with two neat extras:

  • It runs off a single AA battery while providing up to 10 hours of talk time
  • Its battery shelf life lasts 15 years (with Energizer Ultimate Lithium L91)

As such, the SpareOne is touted as the “first spare mobile phone,” the one all of us should have in his bag/purse just in case something happens. It’s a GSM-based device, meaning the SpareOne will work with most networks in the world, excluding the likes of Sprint and Verizon Wireless. In other words, you can use it in the U.S. but only with a SIM card from operators like T-Mobile and AT&T.

As for the pricing and availability, the SpareOne will go on sale some time in Q1 2012 for $49.99…
