Gigabyte will soon unveil a new Android phone – GSmart G1355. What makes this device especially interesting is that it sports both a big screen and two SIM card slots. Usually dual SIM devices (not just smartphones) come in smaller packages, so this is an exception rather than rule.
However, the fact that it rocks a 4.3-inch WVGA display doesn’t make the GSmart G1355 a high-end phone. Unfortunately, it will ship with Qualcomm’s single-core MSM7227T chipset that clocks at 800MHz. Moreover, there’s 512MB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show. All this is packed into a somewhat heavy body, weighing some 170 grams, which is about 6 ounces. Not sure that extra weight was needed and we’re hoping there’s a big battery under the hood…
Anyway, we’ve no idea when Gigabyte will start selling the GSmart G1355 or which markets it will target. We’ll check their booth at Mobile World Congress and see if we can get few more details. Stay tuned…
