BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 now available

Just about the time we expected, Research In Motion has made the PlayBook OS 2.0 software available to the masses over the air.

With the PlayBook OS 2.0, I believe the BlackBerry tablet becomes a much better and usable device because it now sports native e-mail and calendar to go along with a bunch of other new features. While we would have liked it there from the first place, RIM has done a good job of making the user interface look nice and integrating social features into the e-mail and calendar experiences. It’s almost been worth the wait.

While the native e-mail and calendar will get most of the news, the PlayBook OS 2.0 also includes enhanced Bridge features when you connect it to your BlackBerry smartphone. This remote feature had been on some third-party apps before (check out our Top 10 PlayBook app list) but having it built in is a very powerful feature for those with multiple RIM products.

We’re working on a full review of the PlayBook OS 2.0 software, so be on the lookout for that. In the meanwhile, to get your PlayBook OS 2.0 software, click on the settings icon in the top right and tap the software update button. Have you updated yet?
