SmarterAdServer prepared a neat infographic to show us the key things apparently all of us should know about mobile advertising in 2011, to get us ready for the Mobile World Congress. The key findings include:

  • 50% of mobile traffic is done after 5pm.
  • Average CTR (click-through rate) on standard mobile banner across mobile web and apps is 0.4%. The iPad average CTR is 0.77%, Android CTR – 0.31%, Windows Phone – 0.15%, and iPhone CTR is 0.44%.
  • Average mobile CTR can be increased 23-30 times just by using mobile rich media ad units.
  • Average mobile rich media CTR is 8.9%, with some formats getting a CTR of up to 10%.
  • When it comes to average web CTR, the same creative would deliver 68 times more clicks in a mobile rich media ad unit.
  • Android OS market share of ad impressions is rising dramatically.

And now the infographic saying all this in a better way…
