Hands-on: Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Mini 2 at MWC 2012

The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Mini 2 are not the kind of phones you wanna sweat over. Quite the contrary, with these two Sammy is targeting first-time smartphone buyers who can or don’t want to spend a lot on their next mobile device. However, they still offer quite a bang for the buck, especially the Galaxy Ace 2. Here are our impressions about this duo.

First of all, the second generation of Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Mini devices is bigger than their predecessors. The size difference is almost insignificant, especially when we compare any of the two with today’s high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S II.

The Galaxy Ace 2 is a better device, sporting a dual-core 800MHz processor, 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, and a front-facing camera placed above the screen. The Galaxy mini 2, on the other hand, is a 2-megapixel shooter with no flash, and single-core 800MHz CPU. Aside from camera (and flash on the Galaxy Ace 2), the back of the phone also houses a speaker.

Both the Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy mini feel nice in hand, though we can’t help but notice their build quality isn’t on par with Samsung’s high-end devices. Nothing strange here, of course.

On one side of both phones you’ll find volume keys and a camera button, while the other side is reserved for a microSD card slot. A 3.5mm headset jack sits at the top… Check out the gallery and let us know what you think about these two.
