What happens when you drop the iPad?

The new iPad is here (read our full review) and that means people will do some crazy stuff to it and put it on film. The folks from SquareTrade decided to drop the new iPad and the iPad 2 on concrete to see how easily these break.

As you can see from the video below, both tablets survived the first drop but subsequent drops cracked the screen. It’s by no means a scientific test but the video shows that the new iPad may be a bit more susceptible to cracking if it’s dropped screen-first on to the floor.

A teardown also found the Retina Display to be very difficult for users to get at and replace but I think it’s worth those sacrifices – the screen is absolutely gorgeous. You still have a little time to enter our iPad giveaway (shout out to Glyde.com) and if you win, I guess it’s up to you if you want to drop it or not. I’d suggest not doing it but hey, you can do what you want with it.
