Verizon LG Lucid 4G to go on sale March 29 for $80

Last week, full specs leaked of Verizon’s new mid-level Android smartphone called the LG Lucid 4G. Today Verizon Wireless has made it official by announcing the LG Lucid 4G as its latest 4G LTE offering, available on March 29.

The LG Lucid 4G brings underwhelming features that are low-end when compared to today’s super phone, but it is going to launch as one of the lowest prices anyone has seen so far for a 4G LTE-enabled smartphone.

Spec wise, users can expect to see a 5-megapixel camera, and the almost 17 month old Android 2.3 Gingerbread, all powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (type of processor is unknown). Big Red in its press release also notes that the Lucid can be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but of course, no details were made available when the update will roll out. My money says next year.

This phone isn’t carrying mind blowing features, but for the price of $79.99 after a two year contract agreement, along with LTE on board — Android newbies might have to consider. Besides, the Lucid 4G undercuts AT&T’s upcoming Nokia Lumia 900 by 20 bucks, which will sport a $99.99 price tag when it hits stores April 8.

If you were up for signing a new two year agreement, would you choose the Nokia Lumia 900 or the LG Lucid 4G?
