An app wants to keep you motivated even excited about your workouts

It’s not like we lack another fitness app, it’s that we always lack great apps. Fitocracy thinks it has all the elements of such a product and their offering is now finally available to the general public after private beta trial. Available as a free download for iPhone users, the application ties the level-up and quest mechanics of popular RPG games to fitness goals, getting users of any fitness level excited and addicted to working out.

Now it’s fair to add we’ve heard similar claims before, but from what I’ve understood – folks that participated in the limited beta version were super eager to use Fitocracy. The app/service provides them [users] with achievements and badges for hitting workout milestones, and also quests them to try new things in the gym, be it barbell squats or a new sport.

A number of different activities is supported (not just running), from yoga to weight-lifting, making the app a good fit for different kinds of people. Moreover, there’s an active community that will help you along the way…

Sounds fun and I hope it will be released for Android, too.
