On the heels of the recently updated Android app, Skype launched a new version of its iOS app. Since it’s version 4.0, we would expect a number of changes; however, that’s not the case here, with this release rather including many under-the-hood bug fixes. Here’s what’s new:

  • The only new feature is the ability to move own video preview
  • App auto restarts if unexpectedly shut down
  • Improved accessibility and stability
  • Updated design for contacts and messages
  • New sign in screen and some other minor UI improvements
  • Mentioned bug fixes

Again, I’m not sure why go for version 4.0 when you only have one new feature. Guess folks as Microsoft Skype think differently…

Needless to say, you should update right now. Or if for some reason you still don’t have Skype running on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch – get it now. It’s definitely one of those must-have apps…
