Reuters: Samsung’s Galaxy S III already has 9 million preorders

Samsung’s Galaxy S III, which was announced just two weeks ago, has already secured 9 million preorders according to Reuters. They say that an unnamed Samsung official says the Galaxy S III is being made in South Korea at a factory that’s able to produce 5 million phones per month, and that said factory is already running at full capacity. This is obviously great news considering that the phone hasn’t even gone on sale yet. When will you be able to walk into a store and get a Galaxy S III yourself? On May 29th, just 11 days from now.

Should you buy it or should you go with the other Android flagship of 2012, the HTC One X? Yesterday we highlighted a 15 minute video produced by PhoneArena that pits the two devices against each other in a smattering of tests. Long story short, the Galaxy S III is the victor. Why? Better camera, removable battery, microSD card slot, TouchWIZ is less disgusting than Sense UI, and a whole host of other reasons.

Want a new phone, but can’t afford the Galaxy S III? Then your best bet it to get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It’s just $399 unlocked from the Google Play Store and it runs stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it has a gorgeous 720p display, and it has pentaband 3G so it will work on any 3G network, including T-Mobile’s. You’ll also get software updates straight from Google, so you’ll probably be running Jelly Bean before anyone in your neighborhood.

Back to the Galaxy S III though, ignore the fact that it has a boring design. It’s “unoffensive”, meaning it isn’t going to wow you, but at the same time you don’t look at it and then proceed to question your sense of taste. What’s under the hood is important, and Samsung’s done good with their new phone.
