Ericsson makes the hardware used by mobile carriers and a large portion of mobile traffic flows through its networks. The company used data collected from this traffic to generate its June 2012 Traffic and Market Report. The long report is filled with information about smartphone and mobile PC traffic, both now and in the future.
The manufacturer predicts that by the end of 2017 mobile data subscriptions will top 5 billion and mobile data traffic will be 15 times greater than it is now.
