Motorola to Cut 400 More Jobs

In a saddening trend, I just read news that Motorola has plans to cut another 400 jobs on top of the 1,500 job cuts announced back in October. Not good. Back in October things didn’t look so rosy… The writing was on the wall:

The company warned at the time (October) that further job cuts might occur – and has announced in an SEC filing that it will terminate approximately additional 400 employees, resulting in additional pre-tax severance charges of approximately $25 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.

I can’t wait to start seeing reports of ‘Motorola hires 500 new employees’, or ‘Palm’s new Nova OS is a hit, 400 new hires employed’… But perhaps I’m jumping the gun/dreaming just a tad here. Times are tough, and companies gotta do what they gotta do to stay afloat. I can’t wait till 2010.

You can read the full report on the Motorola job cuts right here.
