The rumor is that Amazon is planning to bring its Appstore to Europe during this summer. At the moment, the online retailer has dedicated web stores in select European countries, including United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Spain so it’s fair to argue folks living in those markets will be their primary targets for expansion.
What we get from this is that Kindle Fire may also expand internationally, though that’s just a speculation at present. Selling e-books can be complicated due to local publishers’ rights. However, since the sales of Amazon’s tablet have started falling, it would be a great business decision to pursuit opportunities outside of North America to boost the numbers. Amazon does not disclose sales figures for any of its Kindle devices and all we have are analysts’ papers to prove this claim.
The word on the street is that Amazon may open developer submissions any day now, and you bet we’ll be listening to the streets to hear any new tidbit of information…
