Well, things seem to be getting worse and worse by the day for RIM. One of the company’s largest contract electronics-manufacturing suppliers has officially pulled the plug on making its products.
Celestica, which also produces servers and other products for branded manufacturers such as IBM Corp and Cisco Systems Inc, plans to stop BlackBerry production over the next three to six months. In other words, the company thinks it would save them more money to cut bait with RIM rather than continue to make BlackBerries for them. This is after RIM accounted for 19 percent of cash, to then drop to 16 percent from just a year ago. Yikes!
This sucks for RIM because they lose a quality supplier, as Celestica was involved in the production of top-notch RIM products such as the Bold 9900 and Curve 8520. If you’re like me, then you’re probably asking yourself the same question: when will the bleeding stop?
That being said, the company still has a few months before its first BlackBerry 10 device is introduced to the world, but for their sake maybe they should hope and pray that someone comes in with an offer they can’t refuse.
