BlueStacks, the company behind the software that allows users to run Android apps on their Windows PCs, is opening another front, having launched a version of its software for Macs. Still in public alpha, BlueStacks is free to download and comes with several apps from the company’s developer partners, such as HandyGames, Creative Mobile, HalfBrick, Evernote, Droidhen and Pulse. BlueStacks also posted a signup on its website for more developers who would like a “Mac version” of their app, hinting us this is just a start and that soon enough we’ll see even more apps bundled with the Mac OS app download.
The original PC version was launched in March of this year and has reached one million downloads in just nine days. It’s unclear whether BlueStacks will be able to repeat the success on Mac OS, considering that most/many Apple fanboys can’t stand Android and would rather die than get a non-iOS based smartphone or (even worse) tablet. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how this goes…
