Nokia’s Lumia 800 launched in the UK in mid-November 2011. Prospective buyers had three colors to pick from: black, blue, and “magenta”. Eight months later and American shoppers will now be given the option of owning a pink Lumia, but not the cute and tiny Lumia 800. Instead it’s the 4G LTE packing Lumia 900. For those of you who are wondering, Nokia Conversations has confirmed that the shade of pink the Lumia 900 is set to get will not be the same shade of pink that the Lumia 800 has in Europe. For what it’s worth, we prefer this newer shade since it’s far more subtle than the eye popping pink neon we saw on the other side of the pond.
When exactly will the pink Lumia 900 be in stores? July 15th. Price? $99 with a contract.
Now the important question: Should you buy it? If you’re a fashionista, then you should consider the pink Lumia 900, but you should also consider just buying a pink case either the phone you already have. We all know that the Lumia 900 isn’t going to get Windows Phone 8, which means it’s effectively obsolete. When are we going to see Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 hit the market? Probably during the fourth quarter of this year, or to put it another way: three months from now.

If you need a new phone then the iPhone 4 at $99 with a 2 year contract is great, the Samsung Galaxy S III for $199 with a 2 year contract is better, but the best device on the market right now is easily the $349 Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The Nexus will get updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean later this month, which will make it the most advanced smartphone on the planet to be powered by Google’s mobile OS. Just pop a Straight Talk SIM in there and enjoy unlimited everything on AT&T’s network for just half of what you’d normally pay AT&T.
Update: The press images Nokia has on their website show a different shade of pink than the images on Nokia Conversations. In conclusion, we have no idea which pink is the right pink.
Update: Nokia emailed us the right press images.
