We’ve already told you about LG’s version of Siri called Q Voice. At the time we were talking about it, it wasn’t available for English speaking users. And while that’s still the case, the situation will change in the first half of 2013.
Aside from standard database of correct answers, LG’s software/service also relies on the Wernicke engine that uses “reasoning with a probabilistic model to find the best answer.” This in turn should help the Q Voice act more naturally, no matter what language the user is speaking. Moreover, aside from standard voice to text and searching, Q Voice will be able to control device settings and “perform any function [with] the appropriate procedure.”
This all sounds cool but we’ll first have to try it to reach some conclusion. The market for virtual assistants is heating up and we expect that the increased competition produces better results. In the meantime, we (or that’s just me) can’t stop playing with Sammy’s S Voice (which BTW could use some additional polishing)…
