Gazelle, a popular online company that pays people to trade in their phones, is offering iPhone 4S owners $277 to trade in their handset. The company is trying to get ahead of the release of the new iPhone, which is rumored to launch sometime in September. iPhone 4S owners thinking of capitalizing on this deal from Gazelle, will only have until August 31 to act.
Of course, once the new generation iPhone finally hits shelves, the previous generation will take a huge cut on its appraised buyback value. Gazelle’s chief gadget officer, Anthony Scarsella, confirmed that the 4S will receive a steep price drop at the end of September saying, “We’re buying so many phones and it floods the markets,” Scarsella said. “That tends to drop pricing.”
That being said, if you happen to own a different phone, you won’t be acceptable to the vicious price fluctuations as the iPhone. Honestly, it’s hard to have people separated from their phones for such a long time, especially if they don’t have a spare fun to jump into for the time being. If you can’t make the buyback deadline, then don’t worry about it. I’m sure you can get the same deal or even better by selling your iPhone 4S on eBay or Craigslist.
