Motorola was handed a legal setback today when a Munich judge ruled that its devices infringe upon Apple’s over-scroll bounce patent. This patent describes the slight bounce-back that occurs when a user drags a web page or other onscreen element past the screen’s boundaries.
As part of his ruling, Judge Peter Guntz ordered a recall of all Motorola smartphones and tablets. A court spokesperson pointed out to Reuters that this ruling won’t have an immediate effect on Motorola. Apple still has to formally request a ban and post money to secure it. Motorola also has the option to appeal the ruling.
