Cricket will soon add a new Android smartphone to its portfolio – ZTE Engage. The soon-to-be-launched device will be available for $249.99 at Cricket stores, dealers and mycricket.com beginning Tuesday, October 2, 2012. We’re talking about a low-to-mid range Android phone that comes with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8655T Scorpion processor, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash on the back, front-facing VGA camera, Bluetooth 2.1 and a microSD memory card slot.

Presuming you get the Engage, you’ll also need some voice minutes, texts and data with it. Cricket suggests three no-contract smartphone plans, starting at $50 for unlimited talk, text and 3G data plus 1GB of full-speed data per month. Slightly more expensive $60 option packs 2.5GB of full-speed data per month, while the $70 smartphone plan offers 5GB of full-speed data per month. Both the $60 and $70 plans include tethering support.
