HP looking to hire 50 developers for webOS open source program

webOS has been a platform on life support for some time now. As a result, parent company HP is in the process of trying to figure out how it can keep the mobile operating system relevant with an open source program. The computer maker stated that it would be an “active participant and investor in the project,” and the company is making good on that promise. These job openings are legit, as they are supposed to be high paying engineer positions in Shanghai and Sunnyvale. The positions range from internships to both senior designers and engineers.

That being said, webOS is still kicking because HP is trying to put the morbid platform in the hands of developers willing to help resurrect it in the open source arena. It’s crazy that a platform so ahead of its time, struggled to get piece of the consumer market. Now with the consumer market a thing of the past, HP seems to be redirecting its failed 1.2 billion dollar investment to the enterprise market. It doesn’t seem far-fetched for a company whose life line is this particular industry. Time will tell if this plan is successful or not, and those who stay die-hard webOS fans will just have to wait and see.
