Sony Xperia Tablet S sales stopped due to defects

Sony has halted sales of its new Xperia Tablet S after discovering gaps between the screen and the case that could make the device susceptible to water damage — and it should be water-proof. According to the Japanese company, the problem is the result of a manufacturing flaw at the Chinese plant where the tablet is fabricated.

Sony began selling the Xperia Tablet S on September 7 in the United States followed by launches in Japan and Europe and elsewhere. Thus far, it has shipped around 100,000 units and in that sense, it doesn’t expect that the cost of the recall will have significant impact on earnings.

So if you were one of those who bought Sony’s new tablet, make sure to contact the retailer you got it from and tell them about the issue. You may be eligible to get a new unit…
