Apple hires Amazon search exec to work on Siri

According to a report by AllThingsD, Apple is supposedly adding William Stasior to its ranks and will use the search expert to head up its Siri unit. Stasior hails from Amazon where he ran A9, the retail giant’s search and search advertising unit. Prior to his work at A9, Stasior was the Director of Advanced Development at Alta Vista, a search engine that launched in 1995 and closed in early 2011.

Besides Siri, some people believe Stasior may also use his expertise to help beef up Apple’s search and search advertising technology. Others hypothesize that Apple use Stasior to improve product search within Apple’s ecosystem in a way that would make it easier for users to find relevant book titles, song tracks and apps from the iOS App Store.
