The first wave of Windows Phone devices will soon hit the market, with companies like Nokia, Samsung and HTC leading the pack. According to DigiTimes, it’s likely that HTC and Samsung will offer better prices for the users, saying that Nokia has put all of its (smartphone) eggs into one (Windows Phone) basket, whereas two other companies are also making devices running other mobile platforms. In that sense, they are more willing to experiment with the pricing than the Finnish giant.

Samsung is in the best position as it’s making more money than anyone else (except Apple) and it can afford to kill two other contenders by pricing them down. HTC too has some leverage as it will continue to make Android devices though not making as much money as it used to (even losing money). Plus, let’s not forget other players looking to make their Windows Phone products such as Huawei, Alcatel and ZTE…

At the end, it will be customers who will benefit from this increased competition and that’s something to look forward to.
