Sharp wants to join the new wave of smartphones that (will) come with 1080p screens. To that end, the company announced its first such device in Russia.
The new Sharp Aquos Phone SH930W sports a 5-inch Sharp IGZO display, which delivers improved image quality along with better power efficiency. However, there are some “problems” under the hood.
For one thing, Sharp’s baby doesn’t use a quad-core processor which is kinda needed to make things run smoothly on such a big screen. Instead, it relies on Qualcomm’s dual-core CPU which can’t handle the task while running heavy 3D games — according to GLBenchmark 2.5, it (along with Adreno 225 GPU) manages to pull out 13.6 frames per second.
Rest of the specs include 3G connectivity, dual camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, microSD card slot, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.
The Sharp Aquos Phone SH930W will launch in Russia on November 8 and we guess some other markets will follow soon afterwards.
