Samsung unveils next-gen 10nm-class 64GB NAND flash memory for mobile devices

Samsung recently started mass production of a 64GB eMMC solution for mobile devices, and now they’re going one step forward by announcing the next-generation 64GB flash storage that uses 10nm-class process technology.

According to the Korean company, this new 64GB NAND (64GB eMMC Pro Class 2000) is 30% faster than the previous generation, while achieving sequential read/write speeds of 260MB/s and 50MB/s. To put it into perspective, that’s up to 10 times faster than Class 10 memory cards!

But that’s not all with Samsung engineers also finding a way to shrink the solution by 20%, which now measures 11.5x13mm compared to 12x16mm of a conventional embedded memory solution. Impressive indeed; too bad we’ll have to wait for 6 months (or more) to see this new memory implemented in smartphones and tablets…
