Chalk up another hit to AT&T’s ego. Following on recently posted financial results that fell short of expectations and an announcement that 12,000 jobs would be cut while 120,000 managerial salaries would be frozen, AT&T might soon have to face the wrath of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and their army of AT&T Mobility employees. The CWA has made it known that they will strike if acceptable benefits and compensation cannot be negotiated by February 7.
At stake are the AT&T employees’ wage increases, sales compensation, and benefits. The CWA is apparently sending out pickets as they gear up to hit the picket-line come February 7th. According to CWA, members should be ready to strike in order to “get some RESPECT from AT&T Mobility.”
Boy Genius Report says that AT&T has a contingency plan in place, just in case negotiations fall apart and the CWA strike becomes reality. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
