ZTE launched Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for its N880E smartphone, becoming the first Chinese vendor to do so. What makes this news significant is that it comes just one week after Google released Android 4.2, and the fact that major handset makers like Samsung and HTC still haven’t unveiled such an update for their respective devices.
After installing the new firmware, users of the ZTE N880E can expect improvements in operating performance as well as updates to Google Now and gesture typing. Plus, let’s not forget new features like Photo Sphere camera and photo filter function.
The ZTE N880E was launched with Android 4.1 earlier this year and at that time it was one of the first handsets to ship with pre-loaded Jelly Bean. Specs wise, this smartphone sports a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, 10.4mm thin metal appearance and Qualcomm 7627A processor. As I’m writing this, the N880E is still not widely available outside China.
