Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra unveiled as the ‘world’s slimmest smartphone’

Alcatel has just announced some new additions to its One Touch line of devices, including what the company calls the “world’s slimmest smartphone.” The One Touch Idol Ultra is a ridiculously slender 6.45-millimeters thick and features a 4.7-inch AMOLED display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor, while running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Alcatel also announced the One Touch Idol, which it claims it’s the lightest smartphone in its class weighing in at just 110 grams. Like its touch version, it too runs Jelly Bean and includes a 4.7-inch display, but instead of AMOLED it rocks IPS.

Furthermore, Alcatel also showed a 5-inch 720p smartphone called the Scribe HD. This phone carries a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 chipset, an 8-megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, a microSD slot and Android 4.1. The One Touch Scribe HD also comes in a variety of colors including black, white, red and yellow.

Of course, none of these phones will hit the United States anytime soon, as China is expected to get first dibs at the end of the month. However, the One Touch Scribe HD will land stateside some time in the second quarter for a steal of a deal at $397 before taxes and subsidies. The “world’s slimmest smartphone,” the One Touch Idol Ultra, will only go for $444 before extra fees. No word yet to what price the One Touch Idol will go for, but we’re sure it won’t be long before Alcatel announce further details on that. It’ll be interesting to see if Alcatel’s Scribe HD can grab any market share away from Samsung’s wildly popular Galaxy Note II.
