We’ve already told you that Audi will be using NVIDIA’s mobile chipsets in its cars. That has started happening with the car company announcing that the new Tegra-powered infotainment system will be rolled out globally in select Audi vehicles this year.

The Audi MIB modular infotainment system introduces a new computing module, MMX, based on the NVIDIA Tegra Visual Computing Module (VCM), which enables automakers to separate the rapidly advancing processor technologies from the slower to update electronics in vehicles.

Thanks to its always-on nature, the system allows drivers to get live updates of Google Earth imagery complete with Google Maps Street View 360 degree panoramas. Moreover, it also facilitates the delivery of other online information, such as real-time gas prices, weather forecasts and points of interest search powered by Google Local Search.

The new MIB high-end system is currently available in Europe in the all-new Audi A3, and is heading to major markets of Asia, United States and Canada. In addition, it will also be empowering the high-end navigation systems of VW group brands like Volkswagen and Skoda.
