Let’s take a look at Toshiba’s booth at the Mobile World Congress in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. Toshiba’s presence was understated, to be sure. The electronics maker wasn’t showcasing much in the way of mobile phones, just a single Windows Mobile smartphone – the Toshiba TG01. But, as the first mobile phone to take advantage of the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile chipset, the TG01 is powerful and sleek enough to carry Toshiba’s product portfolio on its shoulders.
The Toshiba TG01’s feature-set includes the expected GPS, WiFi, 3G data connectivity and microSD card slot that we’ve come to expect from high-end smartphones. But, with the 1Ghz ARM-based CPU and 600Mhz DSP chip packed into a 9.9mm thin package, the Toshiba TG01 shines as a multimedia powerhouse the likes of which would put the iPhone 3G to shame. And, the 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen (resistive (pressure-sensitive)) display makes for an impressive user experience.
