T-Mobile announced its quarterly earnings yesterday and the carrier finished 2012 on a strong note. As part of its earnings report, the carriers confirmed it is still rolling out 4G HSPA+ on its 1900MHz spectrum and it ahead of schedule on its LTE expansion.

The carrier confirmed that its more than half of its HSPA+ coverage now includes support for 1900MHz. The carrier’s HSPA+ network currently covers 225 million people nationwide and 142 million of that group is covered by HSPA+ on the 1900 MHz spectrum. The most recent areas to get 1900MHz HSPA+ are Orlando, FL, Ann Arbor, MI, and Richmond, VA.

T-Mobile is focusing on the iPhone-friendly 1900MHz spectrum because it plans to carry the iPhone sometime this year. It’s also running an aggressive marketing campaign to attract iOS users on other carriers to switch to its network.

On the LTE side, T-Mobile is ramping up its LTE rollout and expects to cover 100 million people with LTE by the middle of 2013 and more than 200 million by the end of the year. LTE upgrades have been recently completed in Las Vegas, NV and Kansas City, MO.
