The LG Optimus G is still by far one of our favorite Android handsets currently available today, and Sprint’s variant of the handset is now ready for a new update. Now users can expect a new and improved handset running on Android 4.1.2, which includes all of the Jelly Bean goodness you could hope for.

This is a big update for an awesome handset, which will bring it to one of the latest versions of the operating system.

Sprint users can soon expect the following to hit their LG Optimus G:

  • – Android 4.1.2 Jellybean
  •   – Google Now™
  •   – Expandable, actionable notifications
  •   – Android Beam™ to send photos and more
  • – QuickTranslator application downloadable from the Application Manager
  • – Smoother user interface. Vsync timing across all drawing and animation done by the Android
  •   framework, including application rendering, touch events, screen composition and display
  •   refresh; and triple buffering in the graphics pipeline
  • – User-installable keyboard maps
  • – Ability to turn off notifications on an app specific basis
  • – Shortcuts and widgets can automatically be re-arranged or re-sized to allow new items
  •    to fit on home screens
  • – Bluetooth data transfer for Android Beam
  • – Improved voice search
  • – Improved camera app
  • – Android mobile version of Google Chrome replaces stock Android browser
  • – Ability for other launchers to add widgets from the app drawer without requiring root access
The LG Optimus G helped the company prove that it was hardly out of the game. LG has certainly taken us aback with its new flagship handset, and that excitement was stretched even further when the Nexus 4 was announced.
If you’re looking for a new smartphone today, the LG Optimus G really is one of your most solid options. Now throw in this latest update, and it’s better than ever!
