Foreign visitors no longer able to access 3G network in North Korea

Few weeks ago, North Korea launched 3G services for foreigners visiting the country, allowing to visit all services sans any restraints. That, however, is no longer available, following the recent tensions on the peninsula.

SIM cards are still available for few tourists to the DPRK, but they cannot access mobile internet on their phones.

Mobile phone service in North Korea is provided by Koryolink, a joint venture of Egyptian company Orascom Telecom Holding and North Korean state-owned Korea Post and Telecommunications Corporation (KPTC).

North Koreans can’t access the global web and are rather limited to only a few services like MMS and subscriptions to Rodong Sinmun, the state-run newspaper… Pretty sad picture I would say.
