T-Mobile is preparing to improve its voice call quality with new HD Voice technology on its network and phones, including the upcoming T-Mobile sanctioned iPhone 5. Though the Magenta may be the first carrier to offer HD Voice, it won’t be the only carrier to introduce the technology this year. According to AllThingsD, AT&T will roll out its over HD voice calling later this year.

At AT&T, the transition to HD Voice will take place when the carrier starts routing voice calls over its LTE network. Speaking at the VentureBeat Mobile Summit in Sausalito, AT&T senior VP Kris Rinne confirmed that “HD Voice is part of our [AT&T’s] voice over LTE strategy,”
