Rumor: No Key Lime Pie at Google I/O? Google May Delay Android 5.0 Launch

No Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at Google I/O? NOOOOO! Google, why? According to Gadgetronica, it seems that Google’s next version of Android, known as Key Lime Pie will not be revealed to us at Google I/O this year, reportedly to give OEM’s some breathing room to adapt to the new version of the Android operating system. Google is expected to delay the launch of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie for two to four months.

This move, if true is certainly bummer news for us, but it is a good move for Google and OEMs. 29.3% of Android devices are still running on Ice Cream Sandwich, and 23% of devices are currently running Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean was released last year at Google I/O, and many manufacturers and carriers are still playing catch up getting their devices optimized for that version of Android.

But the move could be for different reasons as well. Google is expected to release the “X Phone” a few months after Google I/O. Is Google waiting to unveil Key Lime Pie to coincide with the Googly Motorola handset? Just a thought.

We will soon see if Google delays Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, as Google I/O is only a few short weeks away (21 days, 20 hours and 14 minutes to be exact). Until then folks, don’t let this news get you too down in the dumps. If it does, just do an image search for Justin Beaver, it will most definitely cheer you up.
