Microsoft Surface Pro with 256GB storage now available in U.S.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet/laptop hybrid is now available in the U.S. in a new flavor: 256GB of storage, the most offered for the entire line. It started shipping in Japan last month, but now it has shown up on CDW.com with availability between 4-6 days. It has yet to appear officially on Microsoft’s website, but one might assume it will within that same timespan.

Because of the increase in storage, you’ll notice the Surface Pro has a new price tag attached to it: $1,199. Yep, say goodbye to twelve Benjamins for this thing. That doesn’t come with the keyboard either, so if you want that, prepare to give Microsoft some additional money. One last caveat: don’t forget that the Surface itself takes away an enormous amount of storage. The 64GB model only has 23GB of storage available to users and the 128GB has 83GB. Buying the 256GB model means you’ll probably end up with somewhere around 200GB of user-available storage.

CDW lists the other specs as an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 1080p HD display, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and all the usual suspects like 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

First you have to be interested in buying a Surface. Then you have to be interested in buying a Surface Pro. Then you’d need the 256GB of storage. Finally, you have to be willing to pay $1,199. When filtered down, it doesn’t seem like very many people will be interested in buying this. Although if you’re one of them, by all means head over to CDW.com to check it out.
