Tizen is dead?

Tizen is dead?

Few days ago we’ve told you that Samsung decided to delay the launch of its first Tizen phone. According to Mobile-Review’s Eldar Murtazin, there’s more to this. He said that “Tizen is almost dead” and the whole project is pretty much cancelled, adding his doubts that Samsung will launch more than one [Tizen] device in 2014. Instead, Intel and Samsung will work on something else, which is Android-based and “more interesting in all ways.”

So what could that be? We want to believe the two giants are working to make something like Ubuntu for Android, using Intel’s Linux-based Moblin platform as a starting point. This way, future Samsung phones (which would presumingly rely on Intel chips) would be turned into a full-blown PCs when docked. Of course, this is just wishful thinking at this stage and we’ll rather have to wait a little longer to see what the future holds. We are, however, sure that both Samsung and Intel don’t want to through it all away and will likely use parts of the code for the future project…
