I’ve been ranting that we need something like this – one version of Windows that can work on phones, tablets and computers, enabling true convergence. And apparently that’s coming next year…
The slide you can see above was presented at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2013, when Microsoft’s COO Kevin Turner said that 2014 will be a year filled with innovation. The last item on the list is what we crave for – it says “Common App Platform with Windows.”
At this point we’re not sure whether this capability will come included in some future update to Windows 8 (like let’s say Windows 8.5) or we’ll have to wait for the full version jump (to Windows 9). We hope that the process will start with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, and are glad that the Redmond giant is thinking between the same lines as we do.
So by the end of next year we could finally have “one device to rule them all.” Can’t wait. 😉
