Sony has announced that its Playstation Network will be down for maintenance tomorrow, November 7th between 8 AM and 3 PM Pacific time (11 – 7 Eastern). The maintenance is likely to ready the network for the launch of the Playstation 4, coming on November 15th.
The maintenance will happen from 8 to 3, but if you’re already logged into the Playstation Network you shouldn’t experience an outage. Users who haven’t signed in beforehand won’t be able to sign back in until the scheduled maintenance is finished.
Sony’s new baby, the PS4 is dropping on the 15th (in the U.S.), and a whole new strain will be put on the Playstation Network. All of those new activations, and probably a huge amount of beefed up traffic with everyone jumping into marathon sessions on their shiny new next-gen consoles. Hopefully this minor annoyance is worth it, and the PS4 launch goes off without a hitch!

Hi everyone,
We wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that there is a planned maintenance for PlayStation Network scheduled for Thursday, November 7th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time (11 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern). To clarify, this is a 7 hour maintenance.
If you’ve signed onto PSN over the past few days, you’ll still be able to play online and access apps during this period, but you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management as these services will be unavailable. Be sure to sign in now if you wish to access the Network during this maintenance window.
