Apple’s “small screen strategy” has been working for the company for quite some time now but that doesn’t mean they are looking to completely avoid the phablet craze.

According to a Bloomberg report (and brought to our attention by UnwiredView), the “Cupertino boys” (and girls) are setting the stage for a major iPhone redesign in 2014. And as part of this process, the company is testing different screen sizes and technologies, some of which may be introduced in a new kind of iPhone launched next year.

It is said that iPhones with 4.7- and 5.5-inch curved screens are being tested as we speak. Moreover, Apple is reportedly looking into pressure sensing technologies that could potentially allow it to have a no-button designs with one (bottom) area of the display detecting harder touches and act like a faux home button. And/or enable new applications that would distinguish between the light and hard touches.

Apple’s cycle goes like this: unveil a novel product one year, and then improve on it next year. That was the case with all iPhones and iPads thus far, and we see no reason why this cycle, which has worked for the company for so long, wouldn’t be repeated again. And 2014 should be the year when Cook & Co. will unveil a revolutionary iPhone, iPad and… iWatch. Can’t wait. 🙂
