Hot on the heels of the Verizon and T-Mobile Moto X, AT&T’s version of the handset is now receiving Android 4.4 KitKat via OTA update today.

By now, we’re sure you’re more than aware of the new features found in the latest version of the Android OS, but take a look a few of the Moto X-specific updates you can look forward to with KitKat below!

  • Moto X specific updates
    • Camera Focus and exposure
      • Enhanced the “touch to focus” option with a new circular, on screen control that can be dragged by your finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo’s focus and exposure.
    • Gallery
      • Added new photo editing options to the Gallery app including new filter effects, draw on your photos, advanced cropping, and adjustments to color, exposure, contrast and more.
    • Touchless Control
      • Added a new “Find my phone” command to Touchless Control. Just say “OK, Google Now-find my phone” and your Moto X will ring loudly to let you know where it’s hiding when you’ve misplaced it nearby.
      • Accessibility – Add improvements for the visually impaired to all screens in AOV for TalkBack.
      • End of Speech improvements
    • Motorola Connect
      • Improved number formatting
      • Performance, connectivity, and logout management improvements
    • Active Display
      • Picking up the Moto X will wake it up to display the Active display
    • Motorola Migrate
      • Improved interface for switching between send to and send from modes
      • Upgrade notifications

If you have yet to see the notification that an update is waiting for your Moto X, you can manually check by going to Settings> About Phone> System updates.  If the update is waiting for you, follow the prompts and it will download. Be sure you’re on WiFi as well, given that this is a 326.5MB file.

Now we’re waiting for the Sprint Moto X to get its Android 4.4 KitKat update, which we couldn’t imagine will take too long at this point.
