The updates just keep coming for the NVIDIA Shield and the company has just announced an upcoming OTA to bring enhancements to Gamestream and Gamepad Mapper. WiFi and ethernet game streaming has been improved in the update, along with the ability to share Gamepad Mapping profiles to the Shield community, and much more.

Take a look at the full list up enhancements set to hit the Shield with this update below:

GAMESTREAM improvements

o   Stream from your PC at up to 1080p @ 60 FPS in Console Mode when using Ethernet (via micro USB Ethernet adapter).

o   Improved PC streaming quality at 720p @ 60 FPS and Wi-Fi performance.

Gamepad Mapper improvements

o   New community profiles BETA feature – ability to share, browse, and rate gamepad mapping profiles.

o   Ability to map gyro simulation to analog thumbsticks with new “motion sensor” feature.

o   Improved right thumbstick features for first person perspective games that use touch swipes to look around.

o   New “accelerated cursor” option for joystick mouse mode.

Full-screen mode updates

o   Option to auto-hide status bar.

o   View status bar with a swipe down from the top of the screen.

o   Enable option from Settings à Display.

Streaming enhancements are definitely a welcome addition, but we’re pretty excited to get a chance to test out the new “motion sensor” feature that will allow users to map gyro motion to the thumbsticks. With all of these pretty great features hitting the Shield, it’s easy to see just how dedicated NVIDIA is to making the experience on its handheld as smooth possible.

Outside of the great new Android titles like Zombie Tycoon 2 and GT Racing 2, NVIDA has added official support for some of the latest PC titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Battlefield 4, ensuring that the experience will be better than ever when streaming to the Shield or to your TV with Console Mode.

The new OTA update is set to begin rolling out today, so be sure to check your NVIDIA Shield to see if it’s waiting for you!
