Samsung just can’t stop adding smartphones to its already exhaustive Galaxy line. Samsung has announced the Galaxy Core Advance, a mid-range device that is slated for an early 2014 release. We’ve heard that Samsung will have at least four new devices for us in the new year, and the Galaxy Core Advance is one of them. Samsung will also be rolling some “lite” devices, such as the Galaxy Tab 3 lite and the Galaxy Note 3 lite.
The Galaxy Core Advance will come in Pearl White and Deep Blue colors, and will launch with a number of accessories which will advance the device’s capability, and will tout features optimized to help the visually impaired and disabled customers. The Core Advance has three physical navigation buttons on the front of the device, and a soft plastic back which helps the device stay put while in the hand.
As far as specs go, the Galaxy Core Advance sports a 4.7 inch WVGA TFT display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 5MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing snapper. The Core Advance will come with 8GB of internal storage, and rocks a microSD slot for memory expansion. The device packs a 2,000mAh battery and 1GB of RAM.
The Core Advance will pack much of Samsung’s current software, which graces the GS4 and other GS4 variants. S Voice, S Translator, Sound & Shot, Group Play and Easy Mode are all included. For visually impaired users, the Optical Scan feature reads text aloud from an image and Light Sensing technology senses light direction and brightness via the Core Advance’s camera. The device also touts a Voice Guided Camera function, which read the number of faces in a picture to the user as well as the subject’s standing location.
Look for the Samsung Galaxy Core Advance to hit shelves in early January 2014. Pricing and availability details have not been revealed as of yet, but we’ll keep you updated once we hear news from Samsung.
