AMC’s Yeah! app for iPad delivers bonus content, trivia to movie rentals

AMC today released its Yeah! app for the iPad. Those of you unfamiliar with Yeah!, the app is an online movie rental service that gives users access to a slew of “iconic films” that can be downloaded for 48 hours at a time.

So what’s the big deal, you ask? Well the Yeah! app does many cool things not seen on other online rental platforms such as offer bonus features like interviews, facts, and trivia that pop up while you’re watching a film. It also seamlessly integrates other popular directory services like Wikipedia and IMDB for that spur of the moment actor search.

The pricing isn’t too bad either as the AMC movie rental service charges the standard $4.99, but with all the extra stuff mentioned above. This isn’t a bad deal when you consider iTunes charges the same rate to stream its rentals for just 24 hours, they also do give the bonus features.

However, if you don’t want all the bonus features you can just opt for the regular rental package which only cost $1.99. Both options lets you stream the movie for 48 hours — the $1.99 price tag is a bargain that comes in the Redbox territory of affordability (you can get a Blu-ray rental for a $1.50 a night with Redbox).

The new iPad app is available to grab for free now.

Movies available through the service include No Country for Old Men, Dirty Dancing, Superman: The Movie, The Shining, Scream, The Expendables, and Reservoir Dogs. At the time of writing, the most popular rental is Chevy Chase’s Caddyshack.
