Samsung Knox has a “serious vulnerability”?

Samsung Knox may still not be ready for prime time. According to cyber-security researchers at Israel’s Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Korean company’s enterprise solution has a “serious vulnerability” that could allow malicious attackers to track emails and record data communications.

In the worst case scenario, the researchers are saying, this security flaw would allow an attacker to “easily intercept” secure data and modify it, and even insert hostile code that could put a secure network at risk.

Samsung on its end investigated this, claiming that the flaw isn’t as serious as researches made it out to be. The company said that their testing was done on a phone without the full corporate client software package installed.

Meanwhile, we’re hearing that Koreans are having hard time convincing enterprise and government customers into ditching their existing devices which have thus far served them well. Samsung will have to put-in an extra effort to make its Knox system as secure as other platforms, namely BlackBerry and iOS, both of which (alongside Knox) have been certified by the U.S. Department of Defense. We’ll see how that goes…
