Cricket has added a new rugged Android smartphone to its portfolio, Kyocera Hydro Plus. This a low-end device and as such, it won’t impress many with its specs sheet. Speaking of which, the Hydro Plus comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 2GB of expandable storage (with microSD cards).

The IP57-certified handset can be immersed in water up to one meter deep for up to 30 minutes, after which it will keep working like it’s nobody’s business. If this feature means a world to you and you don’t mind getting an entry-level device, perhaps this Kyocera device is made for you. It costs just $139.99 and you don’t have to sign-up for any long-term contracts to get it.

Alternatively, if you don’t need all that ruggedness, you’re much better off going for the Moto G, which sells for a comparable amount of money. It’s your call…
