LG unveils QSlide SDK, lets third-party apps float around your homescreen

Samsung has Pen Windows multi-tasking and LG – QSlide, which first (as far as I know) shipped with the Optimus G Pro. If you’ve been living under a rock you should know that QSlide allows users to run small apps on top of everything else currently running on LG’s phone/phablet.

As I’m writing this, only a few apps support QSlide, including web browser, calculator, gallery and so on. And now the company is opening up this platform to allow third parties to join the fun.

The new SDK (available for download from here) was launched to allow developers to incorporate such features as switching between floating and full screen mode, adjusting window transparency levels, customizing the appearance of the window and adding a quick launch icon to the QSlide tray in the notification shade.

Personally I never played with QSlide that much, but I can imagine using it for getting up-to-the-minute information on stocks and weather. Other than that, it’s one of those fancy though barely useful capabilities…
